Two months ago we set out to raise $20,000 and we did not see how we were going to do it in such a short amount of time, BUT GOD. He has given us $15,000 so far, and we believe God will provide the remainder of what we need by February 1. You know how God did it? He worked in someone's heart to give and they gave, simple as that. He doesn't have to do it that way, but He does. He allows people to hear His voice and He gives them the privilege to be used as a conduit of His grace in the lives of others.
I don't know much, but I do know this: God never pulls you in without sending you out. God blesses you to make you be a blessing. You can't be a blessing unless you are willing to lose something. If you are not willing to be sent out, be a blessing, and lose something, its not that you are not listening to God, its that your not like God. Never are you more like God than when you are going, giving, and laying down your life for His purpose in time and eternity. Its Christmas week and that is what the story of Christmas is all about.
A little preaching in a fundraising newsletter is probably not the best way to persuade people to give, but don't miss the point. I'm not saying your not God-like if you don't give to this project, but if your life is not characterized by generosity, you probably don't have a good grasp on what grace is all about. Its Christmas, find a person in need and allow God to use you as a conduit of His grace.
"For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich."
2 Corinthians 8:9
